Studies have determined that mental health programs for students in educational institutions are not as robust as they should be. Many educational institutions offer counseling and therapy as mental health projects for students but those treatments fall short in providing students with the substantive care they truly need. There are also some schools that provide the necessary services but are not efficient enough to provide adequate mental health projects for students . Some reasons include insufficient staffing, inadequate budgets, or a lack of treatment space where students can receive counseling or have a place to feel safe and secure. The Youth Mental Health Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families and communities in their efforts to educate people about mental health and mental illness in children. They run youth mental health programs and support groups in many areas all over the country, and they are always looking for supporters and eager volunteers to help out in their mission. The organization was founded in New York by lawyer, public speaker, filmmaker, and mom Randi Silverman . She wanted to help people understand mental illness in children — make them see that it’s not just an illness so that they could help their own kids. In 2011, she created a support network for more than a thousand families in the Westchester New York area.
